St. Joseph's is a vital lifeline for children who need specialized medical care in our community.
While other hospitals in the county are reducing their services to children and closing their pediatric units, St. Joseph’s is doing the exact opposite. Through our Humankindness for Kids initiative, we are committed to enhancing and expanding pediatric care in San Joaquin County.
We recently expanded our pediatrics services to include 24/7 on-site pediatric hospitalist and neonatologist coverage. We are planning for a complete renovation of our Pediatric Unit, and state-of-the-art equipment to serve medically fragile infants in our NICU.
“St. Joseph’s Medical Center maintains its longstanding commitment to the community to improve children's health by providing high-quality, family-centered pediatric services and advancing those efforts through education and research,” said Philip Cheng, M.D., Chief of Pediatrics and NICU. “St. Joseph’s provides specialty care to high-risk mothers, premature infants, and children with life-threatening conditions through adolescence to adulthood. The need for our services is growing at a rapid pace.”
