Thank you, Sister Katherine
It is bittersweet to share the news that Sister Katherine Hamilton, O.P. is retiring after a 16 year career with St. Joseph’s Community Health Department.
Our community has been blessed by Sister Katherine’s commitment serving and advocating for the poor and disenfranchised. Below are just a few examples of her impactful work:
• Friends of Seniors – Sister Katherine coordinated a volunteer-led program to offer transportation assistance and friendly visiting to homebound and isolated seniors with limited support and resources.
• Homecoming Project – Sister Katherine established a hospital-to-home transition care program to ensure a safe recovery for high risk and underserved individuals, in partnership with Catholic Charities.
• Warm Woolies for Oldsters in Winter (WWOW) – Sister Katherine organized a volunteer-led program to assemble warm blanket bundles to our community’s most vulnerable population. Each year, hundreds of warm blanket bundles are distributed to those in need through partnering community agencies.
“As a representative of the Dominican Sisters of San Rafael, it has been a privilege to serve St. Joseph’s and the Stockton community. I am honored to be part of the long lineage of sisters before me who, like Dignity Health, are committed to making the healing presence of God known in our world.”
Sister Katherine's retirement wish is to see that the partnerships supported through St. Joseph's Community Health Department continue to prosper and improve the quality of life for those in the San Joaquin Valley.
